This is what we call Sacrificial Love
What is your ultimate reaction when you accidentally poke your finger with a needle, while sewing a loose button on a shirt or a dress ? “Ouch!” and you tend to shake your hand, to ease the pain, right? Well, have you ever take a moment to stop and reflect upon the excruciating pain our Saviour experimented on the cross, out of love, just for you and me ?
The Saviour made no murmur of complaint. His face remained calm and serene, but great drops of sweat stood upon His brow… While the soldiers were doing their fearful work, Jesus prayed for His ennemies, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”
A call to stand appart – Ellen G. White 37.4
Jesus-Christ offered himself as a perfect sacrifice to ransom fallen men for transgressing His law. Christ had absolutely no obligation, it was a complete voluntary Sacrifice. His life alone, was of sufficient value to rescue and save the whole world. He endured all of this suffering to save the race from eternal death.
A token for Eternity
The cross is a beautiful teacher and reminder of God’s infinite love for us. We must kneel in faith at the foot of the cross every single day.
“From it [the cross] shines the light of the Saviour’s love, and when at the foot of the cross, the sinner looks up to the One who died to save him, he may rejoice with fullness of joy, for his sins are pardoned. Kneeling in faith at the cross, he [the sinner] has reached the highest place to which man can attain.”
The Acts of the Apostle – Ellen G. White 209.4
The simple thought of the Saviour’s sacrifice for you and for me is disconcerting. The atrocity and the cruelty He endured for your sins and mine is breathtaking. He will forever bear the scars on His side, His wounded forehead, on His hands and feet. Each scars left on His body from the nails, tell the wonderful story of Redemption. They also show the infinite price paid by Him. The cross of Christ will be the science and the song of the redeemed through all eternity.
See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me. -Isaiah 49:16
