Speaking of birthday wishes, I celebrated my birthday, this past week. One year down, and here I am, turning a brand new page of my life. As I was thanking the Lord for granting me the priceless gift of another year of life, multiple important questions came to my mind. A birthday is always pleasant to celebrate with family and friends, however it is also a special time, to make things right with God, and to recommit ourselves to Him.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. - Proverbs 9:10-11.
A moment of self-reflection
How have I spent the last year of my life ? Is my spiritual life better than last year, same day ? Have I crucified self ? Am I studying the Word earnestly and spending more time in prayer ? These are some of the questions that I asked myself, as I was reflecting upon my spiritual journey. As Christians, we constantly need to evaluate our level of faith and where we stand in our walk with Christ. God gives us abundant privileges, opportunities and precious time, we ought to take advantage of those and make the best of it.
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. - Psalm 90:12
Our daily lives should be a living testimony of God’s Glory. Our thoughts, time and actions should all be for Him, seeking to please Him. Therefore, we need to surrender our will to God, in order to acquire the language and character of heaven. These can only be obtained, now, while living on earth. There is absolutely no time to waste, not even a nanosecond. Meanwhile, the plan of God for our lives will slowly unfold, until perfect completion.
The more we spend time with God, the more natural it will be to talk about Him and live for Him only. It will become a second nature, it will become us. And when the struggles and difficulties of life will threaten to fall upon us, we will have this hope and assurance that our loving Father is in control and will take care of us.
A birthday letter from heaven
I am aware that a brand new page of the book of Life is turned and the angels are at this exact moment, recording my works. They are recording each of our works. My earnest and sincere prayer is that when Christ comes, I will not be ashamed of what is written about me in the Book of Life. At each of my birthdays I love to read the birthday letter (click on the words) Ellen G. White wrote to her son on his nineteenth birthday, in 1868 . This letter speaks volume, and I also encourage you to take the time to read it. It is such a great reminder of what our purpose is on this earth as christians. Friends, we cannot afford to lose heaven. Nevertherless, those are my birthday wishes for this year…
