The Pursuit Of Happiness

The quest for happiness is of vital importance. This search is anchored in every human’s heart and soul. It is a legitimate pursuit that every single person living on this earth is after. I have never met anyone whose ultimate goal is to live an unhappy and miserable life, and I honestly don’t believe you have either. But how can we find this precious treasure, where to look for it, what do we need to do?

God wants you to be happy

Friends here is the honest answer: to find happiness we simply need to go to the ultimate source of life, God.

In Him alone, can one find what every human being is looking for. Happiness. The world spends so much time and money, trying to figure out what could possibly fulfill their thirsty hearts. But this is all in vain. The type of “joy” they find is temporary and leaves their soul empty and unsatisfied. Happiness cannot be found in things, or new experiences. No, it lays in faithful obedience to God’s Word, not outside of Him.

“True happiness in this life and in the future life depends upon obedience to a “Thus saith the Lord.”

Sons and daughters of God – p.43 – Ellen G. White

It is important to realize that it is God, our Creator, who put in every single person the deep desire for true happiness. He created us to live happily on this earth, as well as in the life to come. We were not created for suffering and sadness.

“He has, in His love, opened a fountain of pleasure and joy for the soul that trusts in Him. “

Happiness starts at home

The Lord wants us to be happy. He wants his daughters to experience constant joy, but where to start? Well, happiness starts at home, and we can experience it no matter what stage of life we are in. Whether we are a daughter, sister, wife, mother, etc. life at home is simply meant to be heaven on earth. A sweet and secure place of comfort, love and unity.

When the Spirit of God is invited and is at the centre of a home, rest assured that every member of the family is living a life filled with happiness, love, respect and courtesy.

Happy wife, happy life

Have you ever heard that saying? Well, it is the truth. When the wife is happy, the whole family is happy, life is simply beautiful. That is what the Lord wants for all of his daughters. He wants us to live happily ever after. We can definitely attain this sweet level of pure bliss, by putting Him first and having his commandments as our life guides. Christ must be in all of your decisions and He must be put first and last in everything.

The husband must take loving care of his wife, cherish her and give her attention, just as Christ cherishes and loves the church. On the other hand, the wife is to honour, respect and love her dear husband, as the church submits to Christ. Husband and wife must both cultivate the fruits of mutual respect, kindness and peace. They also must be committed to never hurt or sadden each other, emotionally and physically. These are all biblical principles. Faithfully applying them in marital life will bring happiness, without a doubt.

Wherever the love of God is cherished in the souls there will be peace, there will be light and joy.

Mothers cultivate happy dispositions

It is God’s design for mothers to be happy and to teach and share this happiness with their children. By seeing their mothers happy, the children will feel loved and will never want to leave this peaceful place called home. When mom is happy, the bright light of Christianity shines in the home. Without the use of words, her character, her way of living and her method of training, teach the children the love of Christ. Children are excellent observers and analyzers: “Mom is always cheerful, joyful and gentle, and has a close and deep relationship with God. What she teaches can be no other than the truth.” We must keep in mind, that our character will either attract or repel our children to the cross.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right

As daughters, we can make our parents’ lives so much easier, by catering to their needs and alleviating their heavy burdens. They have done so much for us. As daughters we must not let our mothers wear themselves out, we must offer our help, so that they may rest and have less to carry. This again is part of the ten commandments.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. - Exodus 20:12

Overall, happiness is openly available to us. It is God’s perfect plan for humanity. Ladies let’s stay focused on the cross and the daily observance of God’s principles. Our happiness will have an ennobling influence on those with whom we are connected. Moreso, happiness will turn the common water of life into the wine of heaven!
