Jesus Calls Us To Take Care Of The Sick

We live in a sinful world. Indeed, sickness, discomfort, sorrow, diseases, discouragement, perplexities are unfortunately all part of it. Fortunately, good news, Jesus is the way and he provides! As christians, Jesus calls us to take care of the sick and the sufferers just as He did when he was living on this earth. This is what the ministry of healing consists of. As women of God, we can play a huge part in it. For instance, simply by spending earnest time in prayer, by studying human anatomy and physiology as well as getting acquainted with the several natural remedies, that God provided to us in nature.  God is calling us to do this honourable work and to spread rays of sunshine over the suffering souls.

“ And he arose out of the synagogue and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her; and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.”

LUke 4:38-39

Women in the ministry

The medical missionary field is wide open for us to work in. The work needs the delicacy and the tender nurturing care of women. We must visit the sick in their homes, create meaningful relationships with them and provide compassionate care. Let us offer prayer for them, administer natural remedies, assist them in their needs and be a great moral support.

However, I believe that the most important keys for success are faith and a deep relationship with God. We must learn to know how to pray in faith for the sick and weary hearts. We must as well learn how to administer proper treatment and speak words of encouragements. For a full recovery those two key elements must be paired. All our efforts must point to God who can not only heal the body, but can also heal and save the soul. When all the physical help has been offered, we must pray and believe.

“ But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” - James 1:6

Medical missionary work brings to humanity the gospel of release from suffering. It is the pioneer work of the gospel. It is the gospel practiced, the compassion of Christ revealed. Of this work there is great need, and the world is open for it.
